René Louis Aubert was born in La Loupe Eure et Loire and spent his life at Versailles.
He entered the Accademia Julian then became a student of Lucien Simon at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
From 1926 to 1942 he participated in the Salon of French Artists, where he received several distinctions.
Professor at the Versailles School of Painting in 1926 (then Director) will become School of Fine Arts in 1953 and which will be director until 1966.
Many of these works are in the Museum Lambinet Versailles.
Our table is a "Village scene in the south of France" with interesting light contrasts. It depicts a group of women who may be embroiderers and whose silhouette suggests that activity.
